Not Much Goin On

Well, not a lot was done over this weekend...Saturday was my birthday so we went out to dinner and it was yummy, did a bit of shopping and finished up a table runner I started a few months ago. I got to the point where I put the rows together but something wasn't lining up so i threw it to the side for a while...so Saturday night i felt like i should be doing something so i took it apart and now it's finished...just need to do the quilting. Today was a very lazy day ... i managed to cut about 40+ strips for my Calendar quilt and take a nap. Hope ya all had a great weekend :O)

YIPPEE ... February Calendar Challenge Done

I am so excited to have my february calendar block finished...only 10 more to go :O) I think once this Calendar Quilt is put together it is definitely going to be one funky quilt...it will be a great size and i'm hoping to be able to piece the back together with the scraps from the front. Hope you are having a great day!

Toe Warmers

How cute are these!!! They are toe warmers but can be used for any ache and pain! They are so simple to make and go together very quickly! I made these to give to people just because they were fun to make...since I bought a 20 lb bag of rice, i'm sure i will be making more! I found them on Rachel's blog and you can find the instructions here. The month of February is almost over and I haven't even started another quilt...last year I managed one quilt a month, but this year I'm not doing so well...I have been working on my Calendar Quilt with cutting strips and getting blocks completed, so I guess that counts for something. Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope you had a wonderful day! Well I had a very happy day! I went to the Quilt Patch in Tecumseh, Michigan and it was a great shop...if you are in the area definitely stop in! I wish I had taken my camera but didn't even think of it...next time i will! Here is what i bought! These are some more fabrics for the calendar quilt challenge...the middle one...i can't decide if i should put it with the orange blocks, yellow blocks or pink blocks...maybe i'll put it with all three!
And these...these are also for the calendar quilt challenge but are for specific peoples birthdays. Golf is for my brother, soccer is for my nephew, the flames is for my husband and the handkerchiefs is for my dad.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :O)

Brushfire Blocks Completed

Whew! I am so glad this week is finally over! It seems like it has been nothing but bad news all week! So...On a positive note...I have finished 9 blocks to send for the brush fire quilts which i hope to send out on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday. I may make a few more to add to the mix, however they would be in different colors since I am running out of my bright fabric. Tomorrow I am off to Tecumseh, MI to check out a quilt store, so hopefully I will find some more fun material to add to my stash...I think I have material for 9 quilts, so i think i better stop shopping and start sewing. I hope everyone has a safe and fun week-end!

Brushfires in Australia

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our fellow Aussie bloggers and their family and friends at this horrible time! It's hard to even imagine the devastation in Victoria! Thank goodness I was reading Rachel's blog and she has posted about Tia who is accepting blocks to put together quilts for those who have lost everything. What you do is create a 12.5" block (stars preferred) and send it to Tia. She will assemble the quilt tops, do the quilting and send them to families in need. This seems like the prefect project to lend a hand to those so far away! Here is a link to view some of the blocks: http://www.flickr.com/groups/bushfirequiltproject/

Valentine's Throw

Here is a picture of my Valentine's throw back from the quilter. She did an awesome job! It's hard to see the detail in this picture, but the next picture shows it much better.
This is a close-up of the back. It is called Hearts and Loops and it looks so pretty! I am so happy with how this turned out.
I was amazed to get it back so quickly. I just took it to the quilters last week!
These are just some 9-patch blocks made out of scraps that I worked on and will be mailing to NY this week. Check out the story at Bumble Beans blog.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

January Done

YEAH! January is done! Last night i spent some time finishing up my January block which is 15 x 15 1/2. I think I will put a sashing on each block of white-on-white and then put them together....not sure.
February's block will be made of 6 different colors, so I can't wait to get started on that this evening.
Have a great day!

New FQs

Hello! Not a lot going on in Ohio! I purchased some new FQs on Saturday at the Quilt Foundry in Maumee to add to my Calendar stash and that is about the excitement going on here....OH...except for the Steeler's winning the Super Bowl! GO BIG BEN!!! I did feel bad for Arizona, but that feeling didn't last long :O) Sorry!
Hopefully I will have pictures of my Calendar Challenge square for January this week!
Have a great week!
