Sept Schnibble Quilted :O)

WOOT! WOOT!! I'm so excited! I have quilted the Schnibble for September! I actually did the quilting, nothing more than diagonal lines, but nevertheless, i did it! My machine wouldn't cooperate, so i ran to my neighbors and used her machine (THANKS JUDY!) So, it's quilted, binding on, washed, dried and sitting on my table! NOW i'm ready for Christmas ... call me crazy! (but i see they are getting snow in Colorado :O) Now i need to get back to my funky fat quarters quilt that i started a week or so ago. Other than that, nothing too exciting is goin on here in Ohio. It's been on the warmer side the last few days and I'm ready for some cooler weather.

Have a Great Wednesday!

September Schnibble Completed

Hi! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! It doesn't seem like its been a week since I posted, but it has. The weekend was great! We had a campfire with our neighbors on Saturday and spent the day making stew on the open fire and then we made some cornbread, apple cobbler and homemade ice cream. It was yummy! It was a great evening around the fire also because it got pretty cool!

And since my last post I've been working on my September Schnibble pattern called Winter White which contains flying geese ... and for the record, i don't like flying geese! This is the first time I have made them and they looked like they were flying all over the place! Next time I have to make them I think I will be ordering the ruler that Nicole talked about in her post! So below is a picture of my September Schnibble done in Frosted Memories by Moda. The top is complete and I am going to attempt to do the quilting ... which I have never done before, so it may be nothing more that Xs. Oh, and be sure to stop by Green Fairy Quilts and check out her awesome give-away!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Schnibbles Started

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Tonight i started sewing my Schnibbles! Well, i made my first ever Flying Geese ... i got a whole two of them made and my sewing machine decided to act up ... after messing with it for a bit (15 minutes because that is all the longer i have patience to deal with it), i left the room and now hubby is messing with it. I think he knows i would throw it to the curb in a heartbeat and go buy a Janome or a Bernina or a Pfaff ... oh that just sounds so fun! In the meantime, let's hope he gets mine fixed so i'm able to complete my Schnibble this month :O)

So anyway, below is the material i am doing my September Schnibble in ... it is called Frosted Memories by Moda. I love the colors but just wish there was more red in the charm packs. I think next time maybe i'll buy a layer cake and have more variety.

Funky Fat Quarters

Hello! Every night for the last week i've been saying ... i need to update my blog ... and every night i have nothing to blog about! So ... what have i been up to for the last week? well you guessed it ... nothing! I ordered the pattern and fabrics for my Schnibbles and that all came, but i just am not feeling the fabric, so tomorrow while hubby is working i'm going to run to a new quilt shop in Wayne, Ohio (in his truck) and see what they have ... possibly buy some different fabric for this months Schnibbles.

So since hubby is working all weekend and my car is in the shop, i dug out some fat quarters that i named "funky fat quarters" when i purchased them. My quilt shop was closing and they were a buck each so i bought them. So i'm in the process of cutting them up and hope to throw a lap size quilt together this weekend so i have something to do.

Here's a pic of the fabrics and you'll see why they're named "funky fat quarters"

Hope ya all have a wonderful weekend :O)

Red White and Blue Table Topper

Hello everyone! Well, i was itchin to start something new because Cotton Blossom has been pushed to the side for a bit ... more on that later. So anyway, several months ago i saw a pattern that Kim had created called Fireworks (which you can purchase at her Etsy Shop) and i fell in love with it! I thought the center would be an awesome table-topper. I made mine without the border, but be sure to check out Kims because her border is ADORABLE! I may have to order the pattern just for the border!

So i sat down and colored out her center on some graph paper and last night i got busy cutting the blocks.

This morning i started putting it together and it was so quick and easy and i just love it! It measures 41" square without a border but I think I may put a small red border on it. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and I can't wait for September 1st to start the Schnibbles a Month!!!

Awesome Monday!

Today was an awesome day! I took half a day off work and took a quilting class with my cousin. It was just a 3 hour class to learn how to do the actual quilting part. Me...i send everything to be long-armed, so now that i know a few techniques i will be practicing them so i can do some of my own stuff.

Here is some Christmas material i bought to make more stocking table runners, i just fell in love with it, it's so pretty! On another note ... the quilt shop we took the class at has a TON and i mean TON of Schnibbles patterns. I can't even tell you how many they had, but it was a boat-load! So now i know where i'll be getting my patterns from for A Year of Schnibbles Club. Here are the three patterns I purchased!

OH OH OH and here is something that just made my day!!! I WON A GIVE AWAY!!! MY VERY FIRST ONE!!!! Check out Jane's Blog ... Sew Create It! and look at the ADORABLE non-slip sewing machine mat with 3 pockets in the front that she made ... that is what i won!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH JANE!! Isn't that just the bestest gift ever! And here's where you can get the pattern to make your own.

I hope everyones Monday was as Great as mine! No sewing tonight, but hopefully tomorrow.

Cotton Blossom ... UGH! Part 2

UGH ... UGH ... UGH! Ok, so here's the update from my last post on this quilt! Dave and I layed it out to square it up and i was cutting so much off the top and bottom that it just seemed crazy to waste that much fabric ... so, against my brain screaming "NO, DON'T DO IT!" i started the fun task of taking the rows apart so that i can re-align them in hopes they are more even. Last night i took 2 rows apart and my plan for this evening is to get them sewn back together and then add the 3rd row to them (once i rip that off the rest of the quilt) to see if it aligns better.

I keep telling myself ... my next quilt is just around the corner, just a few more nights of this quilt and i can move on to something more fun!

Have a great evening everyone and if anyone is having a glass of wine tonight or a margarita, have one for me! On second thought, maybe i'll just have one before bed...toodles!

Cotton Blossom ... UGH

YIKES! It's been over a week and I haven't posted anything! Well, that's because I haven't done much! I did manage to get the 7 rows for Cotton Blossom sewn together and realized the top and bottom of the quilt now goes at an angle :O) so i need to trim all 4 sides and put the borders on. I was hoping to have it done last weekend and that didn't happen, so maybe tomorrow and thursday night when hubby is working i will get this quilt finished and out of my hair! I've been wanting to REALLY scrub our bathroom, so last night was the night! The shower doors are VERY clean and i mopped the floor on my hands and knees. It just seems the floors don't get clean enough with a mop! And shower doors...oh i hate them! Give me a shower curtain any day!

Other than that, it has been extremely hot here and this week it is beginning to cool down. Call me crazy, but i think i'm ready for fall and some cooler nights to sit around the campfire.

Not sure what quilt i will work on next, but as soon as i figure it out i will definitely share...oh and when the cotton blossom is done, you will see that too for the LAST time.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Cotton Candy Finished

Cotton Candy ... that is what this quilt has been named. Here is a picture of it with the border on. I love how this quilt turned out and the colors are so pretty.
When I started quilting i said i would only have one quilt started at a time and i was very good about that until i started the quilts for my nephews. So, since my Cotton Blossom quilt was put aside and after the boys quilts i did the Cotton Candy quilt, tomorrow night i will pull out old cotton blossom and try to finish it this week/upcoming weekend. I've totally lost interest in doing it, so i'm hoping once i get her back out it will go smoothly. There's not much left to do, just put the rows together and put the borders on, but it is a braided pattern, so it's going to be a matter of lining up the braids ... do you really think it matters if the braids are lined up? I've seen it both ways.

Hope your week gets off to a good start and hopefully the weather here in Ohio cools down some. It was 95 today with a heat index of 101 ... needless to say, after church i stayed inside all day. Have a great Monday :o)

Stockings Re-Done

MUCH BETTER! Tonight I spent some time ripping apart the previous stockings and putting on just a solid green background and i think they look soooo much better! I still haven't started a new quilt ... i was going to start cutting out a red, white and blue one this evening, but decided to wait so i can purchase more of the white that i have. I am four 8" blocks short!

Hope everyones weekend is off to a great start!

Christmas Stocking Blocks

I can't believe Wednesday is already over! This week has flown! I haven't done a whole lot of sewing. On Sunday I did some stocking blocks for my SIL ... they will be a table runner ... i would show pics, however, she reads this and thus will see her gift :O) She knows she's getting it, just hasn't seen it all together.

So here's a pic of some Christmas fabric i bought last year. I have a total of 7 1/2 yards of it ... I am having the hardest time figuring out what pattern to make a Christmas throw in ... I would LOVE some pattern suggestions! Here is a pic of a few more stocking blocks i did last night out of some leftover Christmas fabric that is flowery and i'm not sure i'm diggin the green floral background with the red floral stocking ... i think i need to replace it with solid green ... the stocking sorta gets lost ... what do you think? Think it's too busy? Turning over a new leaf ... I've decided from now on my house WILL be clean before i start sewing...if it ain't clean, i ain't sewing! Hopefully that will make me dust a little more ... UGH I hate dusting.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Quilts Delivered & More Fabric Purchased :O)

Hello! Well the quilts have been delivered to my nephews and I have to say, my newphews are just handsome, hilarious and down-right awesome!

This is Alexander, age 11, with his Ohio State Quilt... This is Matthew, age 10, with his Wild Thing quilt...

And this is Michael, age 7, with his Swirl quilt...
They loved them and they look terrific in their rooms!

Fabric...oh fabric...i purchased this fabric to make a purse. My sister-in-law has the pattern because she is going to make one also. I love the polka-dot fabric, but not sure i'm diggin the flowers...maybe it will grow on me!

Then tonight about 9:30 i started putting the rows together on my Swanky jelly roll quilt. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to put the 13 rows together. So tomorrow, I will cut the border and get it added and be done! YEAH! Then I'd like to start cutting out another quilt in some blue and white fabric I have ... can't remember what it's called, but it's pretty.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend:O)

Binding Coming Along

Last night was a great night! Hubby went back to work and i got started on the binding for the boys' quilts. Two quilts have the binding completed and the third has it sewn on the back, so this evening i will get the front sewn on and then work on getting the labels sewn on the back. Once that is complete, i can move on to squaring up my Swanky squares so i can start getting that quilt assembled.

I don't think i showed a pic of the below fabric that i purchased in Shipshewana, IN at the quilt store. I loved this fabric when it came out and why i didn't buy more variety to go with these two cuts i don't know, but that's ok, it will give me something to hunt for on my next shop-hop. I was thinking of just adding some white-on-white fabric and making a red, white and blue throw, but then i thought some yellow would be pretty with it also...what do you think? Have a great evening!

TGIF!!!!

Hi Everyone and thanks so much for the well-wishes for hubby! I'm so glad it is finally Friday and hubby is starting to feel better...it's been slow, but hopefully there is an end in sight!

So since he has been on the couch all day, every day, i haven't been able to do any sewing, so I've been cooking and cooking and cooking! He went several days only eating 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich and maybe 1/2 cup of cereal with milk, so once his appetite started coming back, i started feeding him.

The other day i came across a cake on Nancy No Blog Blogs and it sounded so yummy so i made it last night. We had it for lunch today with a dollop of cool whip and it was fabulous! It's called lemon lime cake. Here's a pic of the batter. Sorry i didn't take a pic when i was eating it :O) On the quilting side, the quilts for my 3 nephews came back from the quilter the other day and they look absolutely AWESOME!!!! I'm hoping to be able to do the binding for them this weekend since it's suppose to be a rainy weekend in my part of Ohio. I can't wait to give them their quilts and be able to post pics of them!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

UGH!

Hello...sorry it's been a week since i posted but life has been crazy! If i could delete my previous post about "Life being back to normal" i so would! After i posted it, life was anything but "normal". My husband has been sick and didn't work the weekend...it's terrible when someone you love is sick and nothing can be done for them!!! He is scheduled to work tomorrow night and thursday night but there's no way he will be able to go back yet. I just hope and pray he's better soon.

So...since he didn't work this week-end i did absolutely no sewing or cutting or anything. I layed in the chair and napped, came in to my office and did some work and then took another nap. So this evening I decided i would get my strips cut and now i have begun the task of pinning them together. I'll spend the rest of the evening in the chair pinning. But in the meantime, here's a pic of my piles to be put together. I haven't even checked my email to respond to comments left on my previous posts and i apologize ... i will reply to you soon ... i promise! I hope Valerie from Pumpkin Patch Quilter received her package from my give-away and i hope she loves it!! I can't wait to see what she makes with it.

Well i hope everyone has a wonderful week and i'm not sure how soon i will be back to post.

Life Back to Normal

WHEW! It's Tuesday and hubby went back to work last night so i spent the evening doing some laundry and just relaxing! He was off for 17 days so needless to say i was ready for him to go back to work so i could spend some time sewing and just doing my own thing! So tonight i spent some time sewing my strips together and below is what the piles look like:
Hopefully later this week i can cut each strip in its 3 1/2" piece and begin sewing the blocks together. Since hubby works this weekend, maybe i'll actually get this quilt put together! That would be wonderful!

The boys quilts should be done at the quilters in the next week so i need to spend some time and get the binding made for them. Other than that, not a lot going on in Ohio...the weather has been cooler than normal which is nice and tomorrow it's suppose to rain.

Have a great week!
