So Much Accomplished!

What a great week-end! I got so much accomplished! Binding is on everything and i even had time to make a Christmas table topper. This week i'm going to get that quilted and bound and then i hope to quilt and bind my red white and blue table topper that has been haunting me! Here is a picture of the Christmas topper and it was so quick and easy to make! Oh yeah ... and i need to get started on my November Schnibbles. Here is the fabric i'm doing it in. I decided to go with 1930's type fabric so this is what i found at the Door Mouse. I figure it will be a cute topper for the Spring.
Have a great week!

Something Accomplished :O)

I'm on my way!!! The Door Mouse is open until 8 on Wednesday's, so I ran over there last night, bought my thread, bought fabric for my November Schnibble and bought some green fabric to make the Trees On The Table topper.

On my way home I picked up a pizza for dinner ... it was 7 o'clock and we usually eat earlier, but that worked...came home, ate and got to sewing. Put the binding on 4 of the pumpkin toppers and am excited they are done! Here is a cute picture of them washed and crinkley :O)

Once I sat down i made an agenda in my head of what all i am going to accomplish this weekend and can not wait to get started. I should have bunches of pictures and updates.

Have a great day! The weekend is almost here :O)

Just My Luck!

Have you ever had one of those nights when you just know you should have sat on the couch with a bottle of wine or pitcher of margaritas and just watch a good movie?!?! Well, i think that is the night i should have had!

Don't get me wrong, i did get alot done, but i had such big plans for this evening and it bit me! I wanted to get 4 of the pumpkin toppers quilted and bound and was on my way ... when i only had 2 more lines to quilt with the orange thread and I RAN OUT! UGH!

So i thought no problem, i'll just get the binding made for all 4 and i can get the 3 bound that i did get quilted ... great plan! So, the binding was made and i sat down to put binding on the first one ... WRONG! ... the binding fabric is a cream/tan color ... i didn't have any more ivory thread, only BRIGHT WHITE!!! OH i was so mad! It was only 7:30 and i still had another few hours i wanted to sew!

Based on how the beginning of my evening went, i decided it best to put my sewing away, put my jammies on and watch the Biggest Loser! I almost pulled out my Cotton Candy quilt to put the binding on that, but was afraid to based on everything else that went wrong.

On another note, i came across this picture the other day and have to say it is my absolute favorite costume! My brother worked for UPS for years and so when the boys were little it was a big thing to see a UPS truck ... so my oldest nephew Alex decided he wanted to be the UPS man for Halloween and so my sister-in-law made him a truck out of a cardboard box and it was just AWESOME! She painted it all up, put wheels on it and straps inside so he could hold it on his shoulders...what a cutie!! Just had to share it with you :O)

I hope you all had a great evening and your sewing was wonderful!

Ho Hum

Hi Everyone! I'm still here! just nothing to report. i have done absolutely NOTHING in the last week. So last night when hubby went to work i sandwiched, quilted and bound a table topper and then i sandwiched and pinned 4 of the pumpkin toppers so that tonight i can quilt and bind them. then this afternoon my quilter lady called to tell me she had some stuff for me, so i can go get that and put the binding on that this week too. I feel like i have a lot to do, but nothing too exciting.

OH! the Schnibbles for November is out and it is called Picnic. I haven't decided what i'm going to do it in, but i'm thinking 1930's fabric.

Here's a link to some free table topper patterns. I think the Trees on the Table from 07 is adorable.

Go Philly's!!

Have a great week everyone!

Pumpkin Topper

Happy Friday! I took off 1/2 a day today and spent time sewing and cooking and doing dishes and all i have to show is a clean kitchen, dinner on the table and a cute table topper! I have fabric cut out to make 2 more of these and the one more with just 2 pumpkins. I made the runner with 4 pumpkins and it was 4 feet long which is too long for me, so i decided to shake it up a bit and make a topper and it's cute, but not sure i'm digging it. It's about 24 or 26" square and I cut the border fabric from 4 1/2" to 2 1/4" so that i would have enough for the remaining toppers, so maybe that's why i don't care for it, maybe i need that big border...by the way, this is the tutorial from Green Fairy Quilts...
Hope everyone has a wonderful week-end!

Odds n Ends

Remember when I said I was going to stick to just one project at a time so that i didn't have a ton of stuff going at the same time ... well i thought i was doing pretty good with that until i started digging thru some of my stuff and realized i have a small pile of stuff to get finished. So the easiest way for me to deal with that is to make a list ... here it is:

1. Make binding and bind SIL table runner

2. Quilt and bind Decadent Victorian table topper -- DONE

3. Make binding and bind Cotton Candy quilt

4. Quilt and bind Maypole table topper

5. Quilt and bind Red White and Blue table topper

6. Make 3 pumpkin table runners, one complete

7. Make binding for October Schnibbles and bind when back from quilters

8. Make quilt with cut up fabric of Cotton Blossom -- this will probably be a WIP for the next year if not longer!!

9. Quilt and bind Funky Fat Quarters quilt

Gosh, and I haven't even started another quilt lately...i'll have to get busy with that sometime soon, but I just came across another adorable Christmas table topper that I want to start...check it out at this link ... it's a free pattern. It's called Trees on the Table and it's by Patchalot Patterns...it is so cute!

Then ... there's this fabric ... i just LOVE it! I've had it for over a year now and i just don't know what to make with it! I'm so afraid i'll cut it up and then another pattern will come along and I'll wish I still had it! Not sure i'm diggin the blue fabric with the rest of it, but we'll see.

Pumpkin Table Runner

How adorable is this table runner!!! I made this on Friday evening and the tutorial is over at Green Fairy Quilts. It's a great size too, i think it came out to be about 48" long. I have fabric cut out to make 2 more, but i think I'm only going to use 3 pumpkins so it is shorter. I may also make one using 4 pumpkins but stack them 2 on top and 2 on the bottom to make it more square.

How Do You Store Your Quilts?

Ok...I have a question for everyone. How do you store your quilts?

I have seen so many people that put them in cabinets and it looks awesome, but i don't have room for a cabinet (maybe someday) so I store mine in a huge container in my office. I make pillowcases and then i fold up each quilt and put it in a pillow case.

What are your thoughts on how to store them and will it damage them the way I am storing them?

Sunday I went to Joann Fabrics for a few things and came across a sale bin containing fabric for $1 a yard ... and since i make my pillowcases with inexpensive fabric, i purchased 10 yards and made 8 pillowcases and still have fabric left to make a few more. So here's a picture of some of them...the fabric isn't the prettiest, but who really sees it when it contains a quilt in a container anyways?!

P.S. Check out the adorable table runner tutorial at Green Fairy Quilts. It's a pumpkin runner and it's cute :O)

Apple Crisp

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday :O(

I didn't do any sewing this evening, but i did manage to sweep out the baseboard heaters so we can turn the heat on evenutally, went to the grocery store, and out to dinner for subs. Oh, then about 8:30 I got ambitious and decided to make some apple crisp. This is the YUMMIEST apple crisp!! I know the 2nd to last picture looks like it is burnt and i could have put foil over it 5 minutes earlier, but it makes it so chewy when it gets darker with all the sugar and butter .... oh Yum!

October Schnibble --- Finished -- Woo Hoo

Woo Hoo! October Schnibbles is finished! I love how it turned out. I haven't quilted it yet because i'm debating ... i think i may have to take this one to be quilted.
Now i can spend some time putting the binding on a Christmas gift for my SIL and my cotton candy quilt. Then ... i need to find a quilt to start. Have you seen the Zig Zag Christmas quilt at Twiddletails? It is adorable! I have some Christmas fabric with nothing to do ... i may have to try a zig zag quilt.

OH!! Have you seen the Pumpkin Spice Cake over at Bitty Bits and Pieces? OMG it looks fabulous! I think i may have to try that recipe!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :O)

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 09

I am participating in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. The quilt I chose is my Decadent Victorian quilt.

This quilt has to be my favorite! My girlfriend Christine made a quilt out of a jellyroll in this fabric and i fell in love with it. I so never would have purchased this jellyroll based on the colors, but once I saw her quilt I ran out and purchased one. I held on to this jellyroll for quite some time because I knew I needed just the right pattern and had a difficult time finding one until I bought the book Jelly Roll Quilts.

The pattern is called Daisy Chain in the book Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott and is done with one jelly roll of Decadent Victorian and a bit of yardage. I just love the colors in this quilt.

And that cute little thing in the picture is Maggie Mae...isn't she just adorable! She is our neighbors dog, but I would take her in a heartbeat! She's just so happy :O)
