Hey everyone! Well i finally finished my Carnival quilt and i think it is so adorable ... i just luv the colors ... the pattern is Carnival by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts and was actually easier to make than i thought...using the ruler to cut the fabric scared me at first, but it was a breeze! It's done in Central Park by Kate Spain ... isn't she just sweet :O)

HELLO! Gosh, I can't believe it is one week until Christmas!

Last weekend we had our extended family Christmas and I received the BEST gift ... this awesome gift certificate ... *sigh*

JEllen's is my absolute favorite quilt shop and i so wish i lived closer! My Aunt Sally had my name and she was saying how pleasant Joyce was to work with and what a nice lady she is ... so if you ever get the chance ... be sure to stop in and say hi to Joyce ... i'm sure you will leave with a bag full of goodies like we tend to do!!! Turkey Day Surpise

I just luv getting stuff like this :O) My awesome cousin sent me this bag ....

Which contained this GREAT spaghetti sauce because i couldn't find it in my town ... and she also included this great fabric!!! It is the backing for my Carnival pattern. I have the squares cut out and the quilt ready to be put together ... i'm doing it in the blue and purples and just luv it!!Also in the bag was a GREAT surprise...this pattern from a magazine back in 1999. Her grandma is a quilter with a stash of fabric, rulers and sewing machines to die for! She made this quilt in similar colors and i fell in luv with it ... well this magazine with the pattern was in the bag for me too and i can't wait to make it with scraps from Kansas Troubles....o000 la la !!!

I Love Snow Flannel

So last Saturday i went shopping with my sister in law to a few quilt shops ... made an impulse puchase and bought this quilt kit for a great price ... it included the backing and binding. For some reason I've always stayed away from quilts that have 'panels' ... now i know why ... they aren't always the straightest items to work with...but, i did manage to get the 3 strips of panels pretty straight, so i'm happy with the quilt.

The pattern and fabric line is called "I Love Snow" by Shelly Comiskey for Henry Glass. It's the first flannel quilt i have made and it will be great to use this winter.

Here is a close-ups of it ... sorry i couldn't get the picture to rotate.

I have The Grinch Who Stole Christmas fabric on order in flannel and hope to get one more quilt knocked out in December so my machine can go in to the shop for some serious cleaning.

Baby Quilt ... MoJo Back? ... Ahhh ...

Hello! Gosh, it's been a while! Well, I totally lost my MoJo over the summer and spent alot of time reading, so it was a nice break! But now it is time to get back to some quilting ... i've purchased lots of new fabrics, have tons of projects i want to do and so my MoJo is back :O)

Here is some fabric I purchased to make a baby quilt for my girlfriends first grandbaby ... her name will be Ellie when she arrives in January ... I am going to use the Summer Squares pattern from Moda Bake Shop and plan to applique ELLIE in the big white strip and hopefully it will turn out ... I have never appliqued before, so this will be a first ... if you have any tips, PLEASE feel free to leave them!

Hello !! Gosh, it's been a great week! I have done absolutely no sewing once again ... Spent two days in Amish Country, three days on the Harley's and just a bit of fabric purchases ...

So...if you have never been to JEllen's House of Fabric and you live in Ohio or near Cleveland ... you MUST go ... Joyce's shop is absolutely adorable! Joyce is such a very sweet lady and to top it off, her prices are fabulous!!! If you saw my last post i showed a bunch of the blue and purple's from Central Park by Kate Spain ... well i bought that at JEllen's too :O) Below are 8 yards of American Valor by Red Rooster that I purchased from JEllen's ... she had a sale this week on all red, white and blue fabric, buy one yard and get one yard free ... and the fabric was $8 a yard ... can you say WOO HOOO!!!

Here is a close-up of the fabric with words on it ... this is the first time i have purchased fabric with words on it, so i'm excited to figure out a quilt to make ... if you have any ideas, i'd luv to hear them!!!! Cuz all i can think of is wonky stars or one of the recent moda bake shop patterns called Starry Eyed but i'd call it starry night ...

I think tomorrow in our house will be a true Sunday ... it will be a Day of Rest ... Hope you had a wonderful week-end and hopefully I'll have some sewing to show soon. Have a great Monday :O)

Carnival & Fabulous Fabric

Hello and Happy Friday!!! Woo Hoo ... the weekend is here and it's a long one!!!

Last week while shopping with my cousin i purchased this pure yumminess ... don't ask me why, but i luv this fabric in these colors ... and it's soooo not me :O)

And here is the perfect pattern to make in just these two colors!!! (i purchased the pattern last week too :O)

I also purchased more cuts of kansas troubles which i am absolutely addicted to.

So here is what i have decided ... my 2012 resolution will be to purchase no fabric except if I need it to finish a quilt like backing or binding ... and in 2012 all the quilts i make will be made from my stash ... ugh ... it sounds good now, but we'll see how good i do when they come out with all those fabulous fabric lines :O) The one thing i'm afraid of ... i'll stock up on even more fabric before 2012 arrives! Oh, such problems!!

Sally's Quilt

So...remember that blue quilt i showed a few weeks ago, well it was a birthday gift for my aunt and i didn't want to show it to everyone before i gave it to her. Well, today hubby and i went to visit my aunt and uncle and here is a picture of her with the quilt ... she loved it :O) She's going to put a white comforter on her bed and then lay the quilt over top that ... i'm going to see if i have enough scraps to make her a few pillow cases, but i don't think i do :O(

Oh, and here is a picture of her adorable kitten Marley...he is so cute and loveable ... i would have taken him home if they would have let me. Marley liked the quilt too.

Hope you had a great weekend...i did absolutely no sewing, but got lots of harley time in yesterday....so nice to see the sun again :O)

Star Quilt Along ... My Three Blocks

Well, it was a VERY productive week-end! I cut out a quilt on Wednesday and put it together Friday and Saturday ... it's very cute ... I'm not posting it yet because I still have to put the outer border on it and I'm just not diggin the fabric i bought ... so Thursday and Friday I'm going quilt shopping with my cousin so will be looking for different/additional border fabric.

So a few months ago I joined the Star Quilt Along with Piece N Quilt ... I made the first star, then when the second star came out I figured I'd wait till the third and fourth star came out and make them at the same time ... well when the fourth star came out, I didn't like it ... I don't like making blocks/quilts where I have to use a template...it's not that I probably can't, I've just never done it and don't really care to try...so I thought well, maybe I won't do the quilt along...then once again I changed my mind and decided I'd make the blocks that I liked and for the blocks I don't care for, I'll just make another block that I do like .... so here are my 3 blocks ... I should have 5 blocks done, but I'm going to wait and see the other blocks that come out and make the last 2 needed later...I really like these blocks and I used Butterfly Garden by Kansas Troubles and I just luv luv luv that fabric ...

Not much going on on the sewing front...today i pulled out 2 toppers and 2 quilts that need to be quilted so I'm thinking I'd like to get started on those in the near future :O)

New Quilt Done ... But Can't Show It Yet

Oh Oh Oh, I'm so excited! Last weekend I finished the prettiest quilt in these fabrics ... took it to the quilter on Monday and she had it finished on Thursday ... just put the binding on it and now I need to label and wash it ... I can't show the whole thing because it's a gift for someone special and I don't want ANYONE to see it before she does :O) ... well, one person saw it, but she won't tell anyone. So now my biggest dilemma is what to name it ... I'm terrible at coming up with names for quilts ... so let me know if you have any ideas.

Baby Jackson's Quilt

On May 2nd, our family welcomed a new member ... Jackson Alexander ... and he is absolutely adorable ;O) He lives in California, so all of us here in Ohio won't get to 'meet' him for a bit, but we luv him just the same :O)

Here is the quilt that I made for him ... it is so bright and cheery and so fun. This is a close-up and you can somewhat see the quilting ... it's all sports ... balls, bats and baseball mits ... it's just perfect for a boy...

This is a close-up of the back ... if you click on the picture you get a better view of the quilting.

The pattern i used is Boxed In By KarrieLyn of Freckled Whimsey ... you can also find the pattern on Moda Bake Shop HERE ... i've made a few quilts using this pattern and its just a great pattern. I used bright colors from random lines ...

Wish I Had More Fabric

Hello...happy week-end! So glad it is here. There hasn't been much going on on the sewing front ... but i do have 2 quilts that need binding and a blue and white quilt that i tore somewhat apart that needs to be put back together ... they are calling for rain for the next 6 days, so i'm sure i'll find time to sew

So...have you ever purchased fabric, set it aside, then made a quilt out of it that you absolutely loved ... and wished you had bought tons of the fabric? I'm that way with Decadent Victorian by Moda ... it's so pretty i wish i had bought yardage of it, but i only bought a jellyroll and some sage green yardage ... I did see a 5" jellyroll consisting of 36 cuts for $63 on ebay ... that equals 5 yards of fabric, but that seems like alot...

Here is the quilt i did a few years ago in decadent victorian ... i just wuv it :O) close up ...

This fabric is soooo pretty. I'm sure ya'll have seen PURE many times before! My cousin and I just purchased it (25% off) and are going to make postage stamp quilts with it ... i'm hoping there is enough scraps leftover to make a postage stamp pillow too.....mmmmm....it's sooo yummy :O)

Holy Toledo, I'm not sure what has gotten in to me, but i just can't stop sewing...all weekend, every night this week, i just wish there were more hours in the day :O)

So now i am turning these . . . into this . . .

i luv these fabrics and i think once i get all 9 blocks completed, I'll have to see if they should have some white sashing between them or not ... I'm afraid if i don't do a white sashing, the blocks will just blend together.

Thank Goodness Monday is OVER...

So, Friday I received an email from the quilt shop about 20 minutes down the road that they are having a 25% off everything in the store in honor of their 7th anniversary ... so while hubby was at work on Saturday i stopped in the store with a pattern in hand ... i had no intentions of finding what i wanted because every time I go with an agenda...it always falls thru. But, as soon as i walked in the door i saw a new fabric line by Buggy Barn called Three Cheers and i knew it was PERFECT for the pattern in hand that was made in red, white and blue.

This pattern is called American Dreamer and is by Marcie at Patchalot Patterns and was in the June/July 2010 issue of McCall's Quick Quilts...Woo Hoo finally, my first red white and blue quilt and i luv it ...

Spring Where Are You?

Well spring is taking its sweet time to arrive in Ohio, but yesterday was a pretty nice day ... we had sunny skies and 54 degrees...the grass got mowed, the doors were opened to let the sunshine in and this is what we had for dinner ... a great yummy salad ...

and ahhhhh this ... i've been so hungry for bbq chicken on the grill...the tangy thick bbq sauce and those burn marks....mmmm

I haven't done too much sewing...put the binding on the halloween quilt for someone close and put the binding on another quilt that is a gift and i haven't yet blogged about it, but hopefully i will soon.

So i'm doing the block a month that Piece N Quilt is having ... well, i haven't even made my first block yet and we're 3 months into it...yikes...so last night i sat down and cut out the first 3 blocks and since hubby works today and tomorrow, i plan to get these done and then start working on another WIP that is for a close family member.

My First Friday Night Sew-In (FNSI)

Happy Friday! Woo Hoo, my first Friday Night Sew-In is complete and i feel so great about what i accomplished. My "night" started at 4 this afternoon after my workday was completed...i spent 5 hours sewing and here is what i have to show.

My first project went from this..... to this....

i just luv this quilt. it is called Pocket Full of Pinwheels and you can find the tutorial on this quilt at KarrieLyn's blog ... Freckled Whimsey. It is such a pretty quilt and I can't wait for someone i know to have a baby girl cuz i think it's just perfect. The fabric is Sweet Divinity by Riley Bake Designs.

Then...i moved on to this. Three more pillow cases ... two are UGA with cute bulldogs and one is UNC with Tarheels...

What a great start to a rainy weekend! Two more projects out of the way and I can't wait to get started on another one tomorrow.

Sugar And Spice Is So Very N I C E

Oh, i just luv this fabric! last week i received the email from Fat Quarter Shop that yardage for Sugar and Spice by Amanda Herring was now available....that afternoon my order was placed....oh, i just luv the paisley! Sorta wish I had ordered extra so i have leftovers, but i was good and only ordered what i needed...it's so very pretty. So last weekend i knocked out a quilt as a gift...i can't show any pics yet, but it's very cute. Tomorrow i need to take it and another quilt to the quilters to get long-armed. Last week i also started the Pocket Full of Pinwheels quilt that KarrieLyne did the tutorial for...i'm using the same fabric, Sweet Divinity and just think it will be a great gift for someone having a baby girl...it's so pretty and soft!

Ready for Spring

Happy Monday ;O) Well, no quilty pictures to show as it was hubby's weekend off so we had a great weekend and just did stuff...

So, my mind is screaming for spring to hurry up and get here...i'm sick of snow, sick of rain, sick of the cold weather, sick of cooking and doing dishes, ready to cook out on the grill and just ready to break out the harley's and go for a ride!!! Oh the thought of sunshine and 80 degree weather!

So, to bring a smile to my face here are a few pics from our trip to Florida with the bikes...one year over Christmas we "threw" the bikes in the motorcycle trailer and after spending Christmas day with our families, we jumped in the truck and off to Florida we went...oh, it was heaven riding in December!

These pics were taken at Ponce Inlet...i just luved this tree... Just a happy guy hanging out...he sat on there the entire time we were sitting on the dock...

this picture just makes me happy...i made hubby pull the bikes over so i could take a picture...

Halloween Quilt #3

Happy snowy Saturday from Ohio! Well, this is hubby's weekend to work and i've been feeling very ambitious to sew, so this morning i was up early and working on a quilt i started a month or so ago....i haven't lost my mind (my husband may say differently) but it's ANOTHER halloween quilt...this is the 3rd one i've done since October and can finally say i'm over halloween...at least until fall rolls around.

So, here is a pic of the quilt i just completed...it is for someone very close and i'm sure she will luv it! it is the same pattern i used for my quilt and i just luv the pinwheels!

To the future owner of this quilt, you will need to think of a name for her so i can put it on the label ... she's off to the quilters on Monday!

Now, this evening or tomorrow i am going to dig out my pinwheel quilt that i started last year some time from the Pinwheel Party Quilt Along and see if i can get some done on that.

Mug Rugs

Gosh, it's been a while since I posted, but that is because there isn't much going on here...today it is cold, 4 inches of snow so far today plus freezing rain for 2 hours this morning and lots of wind with the snow still coming down...good day to stay indoors! Maybe I'll make a pot of soup tomorrow!

So, this weekend i purchased some fat quarters to make some mug rugs...here is one set of fabrics ... i have no idea what they are called and i normally don't buy these colors but something just hit me with the purples, blue and greens. so here is the other fabric i bought and this is the mug rug i made...i have another row of 4 to put on it but i decided not to because i thought it would be too big, but after looking at it more, i think I'm going to add it...either that or purchase some fabric for a small border....

So...that's all that's going on here in Northwest Ohio...i hope wherever you are it is sunny and warm!!!

Train Derailed

Hello! Well, there has been no sewing going on this week, but hubby works this weekend, so i'm hoping to get something accomplished.

Last weekend a train carrying ethanol from Chicago to the Carolinas derailed at the edge of town. Twenty six cars went off the track and several of them exploded. It happened at 2:15 am on Sunday. People nearby were evacuated and said it looked like daylight out. Nineteen hours later, the ethanol was still burning. Here are some amazing pictures ...

Postage Stamp Quilt Along = Completed

Happy Saturday! Whew, so glad this week is over! I didn't spend much time sewing, but plenty of other things were accomplished.

Last evening i spent some time finishing up making the blocks for my postage stamp quilt along, so this morning when i got up i spent 3 hours putting my rows together and completing the quilt top.

So, here is a picture of my completed top...i'm so happy i did this quilt along because i finally used up a jelly roll of Nature's Notebook that i purchased on impulse. The colors of yellow and blue make this quilt so soft and pretty...it goes with nothing in my house, but it's pretty.

Here's a close-up of the fabrics...don't look too close, i'm sure there are many squares that are not 'perfect' but that's what makes it special :O)

I hope everyone has a great weekend and now i'm ready to start another WIP...hmmm when i started quilting i was so good about only having one project going at a time ... now i probably have 4 or 5 ... i don't like that!

Postage Stamp QAL ...The First 17 Blocks Done

I'm not a big pizza person ... i'd rather have pasta, but i so love having a dinner like this..... giving me all the more time to do this...

i was able to make 17 of my 48 postage stamp blocks...i'm so luvin this fabric! i figure i'll try to make 10 blocks for the next few nights to knock them out.

Well, last night i cut the strips for the postage stamp quilt along that rachel from p.s. i quilt is having, so this evening i spent lots of time on the floor laying out my blocks and just spent a short bit of time sewing the below two blocks...it seems like it took along time to just put these two blocks together and maybe that is because i'm pinning each row...yikes, it's gonna take all week and then some for me to sew 48 of these blocks :O) but i think it's gonna be very soft and pretty when it's done...

Hello Everyone! Well I hope you had a great week! For me the week has flown by but I'm so ready for the weekend! Hubby works all weekend and since he is now on days that makes it even better ... i no longer have to tip-toe around the house worried that i'll wake him. So i have a whole bunch of nuttin planned for the weekend ... hoping to get alot of sewing done...want to do some serious cleaning...UGH...and that's about it!

Here are a few of my pinwheel blocks from the pinwheel quilt along i started last FEBRUARY (holy cow, didn't realize it was THAT long ago)... i only have 1 block left to make, then it's the 20 small pinwheels and the sashing and i can put it all together, so that is something i'm going to work on this weekend! Here is my scrappy rail quilt ... the border fabric came in last week so that is all put together and ready to be quilted :O) i think she looks very pretty with our brown furniture.

OH...and the Postage Stamp Quilt Along that i'm doing from PS I Quilt ... here are my 16 sets all sewn together and ready for the next step which should come out on Monday. These fabrics were an impulse purchase and then i kept asking myself why i bought them, but now i really like the look of them in the postage stamp, i just wish i had more yellows.

New Fabric Purchase

More Christmas fabric ... YEAH ... Well i went to The Door Mouse last week and they were having their end of year sale before they do inventory and I purchased the below fabric for $3.50 a yard ... i couldn't pass it up so i bought 2 yards of each cut! Much of the good stuff was already picked over since I didn't get their until the 3rd day of the sale, but that's OK because I really don't need any more fabric. I keep saying I'm going to stop purchasing fabric until I get more quilts knocked out but that never happens ... if Moda would just stop putting out such pretty fabrics for a year and give me time to catch up that would be great! I also purchased some of the new Evening Mist line to go with what I already have. They have some very pretty purples and they look awesome with the sage green and tan colors in the previous line, so one of these days I'll be working on that ... gosh, i think i need to retire so i have more time to sew! The purple fabric looks more grey in this picture, but it is a very pretty lavendar/purply color.

Are You In the Postage Stamp Quilt Along?

Are you in the Postage Stamp Quilt Along that Rachel is having? When i first saw it i thought it was adorable then thought do I really want to do a postage stamps?!? They are so small ... ugh ... then i decided i have a jelly roll to use up and this is the perfect way! So, yes, I'm in!

I'm doing mine in Nature's Notebook ... blues and yellows ... i just ordered cream fabric from this line from the Fabric Shack and will cut my 2 1/2" strips rather than order a jelly roll. I wanted to make sure the cream fabric matched perfectly! Now i just need to "grab" her button. I tried several different ways but it hasn't seemed to work:O)

Wonky Pillow

Well I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year! Ours was lots of fun with friends...love the holidays, but glad they are over and life is back to normal! Hubby went back to work today and it is very chilly here so I'm planning on spending the day inside in jammies working on a Halloween quilt for my cousin.

A few months ago KarrieLyne from Freckled Whimsey made the cutest pillow with wonky stars! She did a great job of creating this pattern and i fell in luv with it! Be sure to stop by her blog and check out her pillow, the quilting is just adorable!

So...after thinking about KarrieLyne's adorable pillow for a few weeks and knowing that I had to make one, my cousin and i put our heads together and came up with the pattern ... thanks Kristin! and oh, it is just so cute! It is made with wonky stars, and who doesn't like wonky stars....i made it with the scraps of my In The Pink II collection and it goes great in our living room....now i'm thinkin i need to get busy makin a table topper! So here's the pillow.... Ok....off to work on yet another Halloween quilt :O) Have a super lazy Sunday!!

Let me just say that 2010 was a good year ... not a great year and it doesn't seem like much quilting was done, so 2011 is going to definitely be a better year of quilting with my new Janome!

I just looked at my post archive from 2010 and only did 59 posts the whole year! ... Well that is definitely going to change! I'm going to make a better effort at posting more and hopefully having many more projects to show! I think I will also make more of an effort to leave comments on other blogs. I look at so many blogs and luv them all, just don't take the time to comment.

Oh gosh ... and those WIPs! I am probably not as bad as alot of other quilters, but i think i have about 4 quilts in the works and I want to get those completed early this year before I start another one! Remember this pinwheel quilt-along from Twiddletails ...well i still need to do a few blocks and all the pinwheel sashing ... i think it's going to be adorable, i just need to do it!

Thank you to all the comments left on my search of fabric in my previous post and THANK YOU Needlewings! I was able to find the fabric!! It is Collection for a Cause by Moda and I was able to order the border fabrics this morning! WOO HOO! This may actually be my first finish for 2011 when the new fabric comes in :O) I'm also planning on quilting this one my self, so i can tell you it won't be anything fancy ... just a bunch of straight lines!

Any Idea What Fabric Line(s) This Is?

So, when i got my Janome i was so excited and just wanted to sew but didn't have any projects cut out ... cuz i wasn't planning on getting the Janome! So i remembered i had received a scrap bag of stuff from the year of schnibbles and they were 3" strips...so i drug those out and decided to make a scrappy rail.

So here is my scrappy rail and I really like the looks of it...the colors are very pretty together! So...now i just need to know what then name of the fabric line(s) are so i can order a few cuts for borders ... here are a few close-up shots of the fabrics...

i really love the paisley in these pictures.

Hopefully one of you great quilters out there will know this line!

My Santa ROCKS!

I have one of the bestest Santa's EVER!!

If you could only see me now! I can't stop smiling! I was on the verge of jumping up and down! I keep giving my Santa kisses! I told my Santa I feel like we have a new baby so we are definitely going to give it a name ... his suggestion ... Cadillac :O)

Today Santa and I stopped at a local Ice Cream store that has wonderful chocolate so we could get a stocking stuffer for my dad...I was just unlocking the car to leave and Santa said ... why don't you show me this sewing machine you've been talking about ... i about dropped the chocolate! Since the shop is just a few doors down from the ice cream store we strolled down, i showed it to him, the lady told us all about it (like i didn't already know the info!), I asked a bunch of questions (just to make it look good)... Santa just asked what the warranty was like ... then i asked the lady how many they had in stock and while she was checking Santa said ... let's just get it while we are here! My mouth dropped open, my eyes got huge and i couldn't take the smile off my face :O)

So....here is my new baby ... i'm thinkin the name Gerty or Bella Bleu sound good for her ...

Hello! Well, it is still Halloween in our house, at least thru this weekend! Hubby worked so i knocked out another Halloween quilt with all the scraps from my last one. It turned out so cute and I think I'm going to give it to my sister-in-law. It was a pattern on Moda Bake Shop by KarrieLyne of Freckled Whimsey called Boxed In. I can't wait to get this quilt and my last one to the quilter this week! So...now I'm going to dig thru my stash and see what i have in progress that i can get completed...i'm sorta luvin that the year of Schnibbles is over ... didn't get much else accomplished during that time.

i LUV LUV LUV this quilt! It is so cute and fun that this picture just doesn't do it justice! This is my 2nd finish this weekend and i'm so excited! i cut the fabric out for this Saturday morning, sewed some blocks Saturday evening, made the pinwheels Sunday morning and put the quilt together this evening ... and it's only 7:54 pm! WOOT WOOT!!! OH! and i have plenty of fabric left to make a 2nd quilt, so i'm thinking maybe next year i'll do another one of these quilts and give it as a gift :O) So now here is what i'm thinkin ... i bought striped fabric for the binding ... see pic below ... so i'm thinkin this quilt needs a solid black border, maybe just 3 1/2" so that the binding doesn't get lost in the quilt .... what do you think?

Fall Finish...

Woo Hoo ... i finished my Halloween quilt this evening! I'm so excited to get it done!!! She turned out very cute! Oh ... remember this fabric that i just showed you 2 days ago ??? Well today i was back at the Door Mouse to find more fabric to go with it ....

and this is what i found!!! The colors look AWESOME together except for the light orange w/ purple bats in the picture above, so i don't think I'm going to use that, but the rest are fabulous!!!

And this is what I'm going to make with them! It's called A Little Bit of Boo from the Fall/Winter 2010 Quilt Sampler...i think it's adorable. I didn't buy any border fabric because i think I'm just going to make mine super sized and not do the border or ric rac stuff. And the striped fabric above...that is going to be the binding....FUN!!!

So I'm going to sign off for the evening, go do some reading and then first thing tomorrow morning I'm going to be cuttin out another Halloween quilt!!! YEAH!!!

Lovin Halloween

I am not sure what has gotten in to me this year, but i am loving Halloween! I just cut out fabric Monday evening for a Halloween quilt ... then i bought a few more cuts of fabric for another Halloween quilt ... I'm thinking about buying more to make some table toppers ... and then there's this ... i have loved these gourds for so long but never bought one, so this past weekend i bit the bullet and bought one ... now I've decided I'm going to keep buying a different one each year and put them all over the top of our TV cabinet. My cousin and I decided they would each need a name, so this one will be named Giggly Gordie ... i just love his happy face :O)

Not much else going on in my neck of the woods so i think I'll sign off and go work on the Halloween quilt. Have a fabulous week!!

Halloween Quilt

Hello and happy week-end! I am so glad the week is over and hopefully work will begin to slow down so i can get back to some sewing!!!

I decided I'm going to get some outstanding projects finished this week-end and so far I'm off to a good start. This evening I made binding for my big Pink quilt and got that sewn on and washed, so now it's all crinkly and pretty on my couch! Check out the picture below ... and then I made and put the binding on one of my schnibbles and made the binding for another schnibble that i plan to get sewn on tomorrow evening when hubby falls asleep in his chair :O) Then all my bindings will be on and I'm going to start a new quilt. This is the new quilt I'm going to start ... you can see the pattern in the top right of the picture, but i just love all this Halloween fabric! I've never been much in to Halloween, but for some reason this year i am so i decided it's time to start making a Halloween quilt. It will probably be finished for this year, but not back from the quilter, so I'll definitely have it for next year.

Isn't this fabric just adorable !!!

This is the outer border for the quilt which I'm not real big on, but with all the bright colors and busy-ness of the quilt, I think it will work well...especially with black binding...

and this .... this is the backing and i LOVE LOVE LOVE this fabric! The picture so doesn't do it justice because the green is a bright lime green and it is ADORABLE! All the cute funny-face pumpkins!!!!

Well, that's it for me this evening...i am going to head off to bed because this is hubby's weekend off and we have a busy weekend planned ... i just love fall weekends!!!

Lovin Fall ... Leona's Quilt ... Just Workin...

I can not believe it has been 1 month today since I have posted! That should definitely tell you that I have not been sewing! Things have been crazy busy at work and I've been putting in lots of overtime, so by the time I get done working and do the stuff i need to do, there isn't time left to sew...but that will be changing shortly i hope! I have lots of projects lined up, several UFOs i want to get done and a few Holiday gifts i want to make!

A while back my quilter Leona was looking for fabric that she had run out of ... she was putting binding on the below quilt and was about 9" short ... UGH! So I posted the fabric and Pat from QuiltsandOtherHobbies just happened to have a fat quarter of the fabric that she gave to Leona. Thank you so much Pat and check out Leona's quilt...she was tickled! One evening dave and i went out to dinner and when we returned home, i was inside getting some things picked up in the kitchen and he came to the window and asked if was hearing any popping noises ... i said no, i was picking up some stuff and in my own world, so he told me to come outside and here is what i found... It's been a while since we've had a fire in our backyard, so it was nice to sit around with the neighbors and visit. Most of the time we hang out in our neighbors backyard around the fire, so this was a nice change.

Other than that, not much has been happening in my part of Ohio. I did go down to Amish Country with a few girlfriends and have some pics of that to show, so hopefully i'll get them posted soon.

Relaxing Weekend

Hello and happy week-end! I am so glad this week is over .. sometimes it feels like the short work-weeks last longer than the regular ones!

This is the hubster's weekend to work so not a whole lot going on ... going out to dinner with the neighbors and while at the store yesterday bought a bottle of wine ... sounds like a good evening!

So i just made a chocolate cake and some homemade chocolate frosting for hubby to take to work tonight and while i was rinsing the dishes the most wonderful smell of rain came thru the kitchen window so i decided i'd do a lil post with some fall stuff.

Last night i dug out my fall quilt and threw it over the couch...it doesn't really match the curtains now, so i'm thinkin it's time for some different curtains for the seasons ;o) This morning i've been working on making some pinwheel blocks using the below fabrics...i'm testing out the way Vickie makes them in THIS tutorial before i do them in a large quilt which i plan to give as a gift. The tutorial says something about leaving bias edges so i figured i better make sure i know what i'm doing. This will probably be just a table topper or small throw.

When it comes to running out of bobbin thread, it NEVER fails to happen at the worst time for me! But check this out ... this is what was left when i finished one of my squares ... WHEW!

My Year of Schnibbles....

The Year of Schnibbles was awesome! Thank you so much Sinta and and Sherri for coordinating our year of schnibbles....it was fun....we all ended up with great schnibs...and it was great to see what everyone did theirs in. You guys are fabulous!!! ,P.

So here is my Year of Schnibbles...

This is September 2009's Winter White. I did it in Frosted Memories...it will be perfect for Christmas!

October 2009's Cindy Lou Who done in some miscellaneous fabric that looks great together...much prettier in person ... pictures don't do it justice...

November 2009's Picnic ... this pattern was very trying for me because i just wasn't diggin in ... i did it in scraps of bright colors and feel it turned out ok...

December 2009's Tuffet ... LOVE IT!!! these were all pin cushions and i decided to 'super-size' mine. I made it out of scraps from my nephew's quilt so it's a big pillow for Matthew's bed...it's awesome!

January 2010's Madeline done in Rouenneries by French General...i love this schnibble...the fabric is so pretty and i love the pattern!

February 2010's Sunday Best ... done in red and blue scraps and it is so cute! I think this may be the first thing I've done in red, white and blue, but not for long ... i'm on a roll now!

March 2010's Roundabout ... liked the pattern ... loved the fabric ... had a difficult time ... i used the fabric for another quilt that i ended up taking apart so it made it more difficult to re-use the fabric, but i did and i made it bigger than the sample so i'm happy with it...

April 2010's Tagalong ... the pattern is adorable ... didn't care for the fabric, but would definitely make this again using different colors...

May 2010's McGuffey ... this was our choice and i picked this pattern because i had just made a large version of this quilt for my living room...i did it in scraps from the Kansas Troubles quilt i made for hubby ... i just love this fabric and this looks great on my husbands table next to his chair and quilt!!!

June 2010's State Fair ... made out of scraps from my large version of McGuffey ... the fabric was In The Pink II and i LOVE this schnibble...the pattern was fun and i love the look of this in my living room...

July 2010's Joy Luck ... done in Blush ... i bought this fabric VERY impulsively and afterwards i thought i'd never use it and i would end up giving it away, but then when i did Joy Luck in it ... i just love the softness of it and am so glad i made this purchase...thanks Kristin!

And finally ... August 2010's Plan C ... done in Zippity Doo Dah ... love the colors ... love things with stars and glad i made it thru the year of schnibbles completing every month ... on time ... and have a great assortment of table toppers for my home!!

August Schnibble ... DONE

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I so can't believe it is over!

I'm not sure where the month of August went because up until this morning all I had done on my schnibble was make my flying geese and the 4 patches ... then it sat on the kitchen table waiting to be completed...so this morning i squared up the flying geese and the four patches, assembled the center, then cut and made the border...I love how it turned out and I'm glad i used the border the pattern called for rather than a solid border. I selected the pattern Plan C and used Zippity Doo Dah for my schnibble. Hope you have a great week!!!

Hi Everyone! Well today was Michael's birthday! I feel like such a horrible aunt right now ... i worked 12 hours today and never even got a chance to call Michael and wish him a happy birthday! But ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL! I will definitely be calling him tomorrow! Glad I got to spend a day with him last week shopping!!

Peaches ... YUM!

It's been pretty quiet around here this week with not much sewing happening ... i did make some flying geese for my schnibble, but that's about it.

Last weekend we went to a big flea market and they always have great produce vendors there so i bought these.... Added a bit of sugar, lemon juice and pectin....

and made this .... peach jam ... yum! It is so gooey and sweet ... i think i'm heading to the store this evening for some vanilla ice cream ... i'm thinking this will be the perfect topping!

So hubby stopped at a local country market today and picked these up ... they are going in the freezer so i can make some more jam this winter :O)

Where has August Gone!

Hello! How have you been? I'm not sure where the month of August has gone, but I can't believe it is more than half over and and I have done about no sewing!

One evening i cut out my fabric for my schnibble and the next started to sew together some pieces, and here is how they looked ....

So after messing with my machine for about an hour i gave up and went back to it later ... messed with it some more and she finally worked perfectly ... i keep telling my husband this is why i need a nice bernina or pfaff or any one of those nice big fancy machines ... i just haven't convinced him that they are worth the $$$$ ... but i'm still working on him!

So here is the fabric i am doing my August Schnibble in ... it is Zippity Doo Dah and I love this fabric ... i've had it for some time and decided Plan C is the perfect project for it!

So last week I took my youngest Nephew Michael out to lunch at Graffiti Burger and shopping for his birthday. While I was in Columbus I decided I needed to stop by Red Rooster Quilts just to browse ... no plans on buying ... but i just couldn't pass up this fabric ... how adorable is this?!?!?! I have nothing Halloween but decided this would make a cute table topper ... the yellow stars and the mouth and eyes on the bats glow in the dark! I can't wait to whip something up with this ... who knows, it may be just pinwheels, but i think it's adorable!

If you don't have this book, you definitely need to get it. I LOVE THIS BOOK! It has so many cute patterns and i can't wait to make a few larger quilts to go with all my schnibs!

And finally ... this ... i came across this pattern in the Better Homes and Garden Quilt Sampler Spring/Summer 2010 issue ... it's called Perfect Harmony and i think it will look awesome in my kitchen once i get it painted. I'm going to do the walls in a deeper tan color and paint my chair rail a deep barn red ... and i think will go perfectly! I'm going shopping in Amish country with my cousin in September so that will be the time for me to shop for fabrics....

So ... i've been up to absolutely nothing, no sewing, not much shopping, just lots of working and a bit of house cleaning ... but hopefully this week i'll be able to knock out some of my schnibble and have some pictures to post.

My Poor Tree

My poor tree ... let me tell you a story ... i'll make it short.

When we moved in our house 18 years ago, there was one small shrub up against our house and my husband tied a rope to it, tied the rope to the back of his truck and removed the shrub ... so for years i kept saying i wanted a tree and i wanted shrubs ... and after enough nagging, we planted 3 shrubs, a pine tree and my flowering tree ... well i think my flowering tree is going to die...from the weight of the branches, the left side of the tree is touching the ground and there is a crack down the middle of the trunk ... hubby said he stuck his hand in the truck because there is a hole in it now :O)

So here's a picture of my pretty tree in bloom and i'm hoping she makes it ...

I planned to do so much sewing this weekend but really haven't done much ... i put a stocking quilt together, but decided i don't like how the sashing lined up, so i'm going to take that apart and try to fix it and i was going to put binding on 3 quilts/toppers and haven't done any of that ... hope you are having a better sewing weekend than I.

Joy Luck Schnibble Done

Woo Hoo ... my July schnibble is done! I wasn't planning on finishing it tonight, i had planned on working on it tonight and tomorrow night, but it went so smoothly tonight that i just finished it. I absolutely LOVE the way the border on this pattern is done .. the rails are so cute!

I did my schnibble in Blush by Moda and i love the colors ... it will look great in our living room. I think next time i go fabric shopping ... if i come across some yardage of this line i'll definitely have to purchase some for a bigger quilt ... it's so pretty!

Well now i'm off to bed and tomorrow night i'm going to work on some more stocking blocks for my stocking quilt and i want to make a few stocking runners as gifts for a few girlfriends....have a great week everyone!

Cough ... Sniffle Sniffle ... Ah-Choo!

It's been a crazy week around here! Who gets a cold in July?!?! Well I just happen to be the lucky person :O) It started last Saturday ... i hit the wall with it on Wednesday and spent the day in bed ... and today i'm feeling great ... still a bit congested, but i can handle that! So that means no sewing has been happening around here...I have my schnibble cut out and ready to get sewn, so hopefully i can work on that Monday and Tuesday when Dave is working.

It has been so hot this week ... 96 degrees with a heat index of 106 ... i could sure go for some of this right now (don't think hubby was too excited about it at that time) ....

Travel Pillow Cases

Hope you are having a great week! I haven't done much sewing this week because my 'real job' has become crazy busy ... tis the season ... but i did get a chance to make 2 travel pillow cases for my SIL's niece and nephew. Jack likes fish and Kate is girly so I hope they enjoy them :O) It's hard to see but Kate's pillow case has flip-flops on it and they are bright fun colors. Have a great day!

Strawberry Jam ... YUM

It's been a few years since I've made any strawberry jam so this year i decided to make some and am so glad i did! I made a batch in early June and by the time I shared it with friends and family it's about gone! Since I'm going to see my brother and his family this weekend I decided to make another batch so i can send a bunch home with them since they have 3 boys ... and i'm sure go thru lots of PB&J sammies.

This batched turned out very yummy like my first batch, but just a tad thicker ... buy it's still soooo good!!!

SO...7 cups of sugar...

Plus my strawberries and pectin...

made this yummy stuff ..... mmmmm ....

I have enough strawberries in the freezer to make one more batch of jam and am hoping i don't have to do that until at least January.

By the way ... if you are doing the Year of Schnibbles, how is your July Schnibble coming? I haven't even started mine but i think i'm going to do it in the fabric line Blush!

Stockings

Hello There ... don't ask me why, but for some odd reason i'm in the mood to sew for Christmas! Usually it hits me about November ... but not this year. A few weeks back i bought some new Christmas fabric and this cut fabric .... has become this ...

i'm not done with the stockings though ... i'm going to cut about 8 or 12 more so that i have a throw size stocking quilt ... i'm thinking of maybe sewing 4 stockings backwards and just throwing them in the mix ... how do you think that will look?

I've purchased some gold fabric for sashing because i think the stockings need to be separated a bit ... probably do the sashing 1 1/4".

I forgot to take pictures of the main course (chicken, steak and shrimp) but i think in the future i'd skip dinner and just go for dessert ... it was fabulous!!!! We had s'mores chocolate dipping ... it's milk chocolate with marshmellow cream and crushed graham crackers...

here is the chocolate and marshmellow cream and then they pour something in it that ignites it so they can toast the marshmellow and then throw in the graham crackers....YUMM-O...

The chocolate all mixed up and half eaten...

And this is the plate of goodies that we dipped in the chocolate ... bananas, brownies, strawberries, pound cake, rice krispie treats and cheese cake!!!

Then it was on to more shopping ... we went to Country Fabrics in Shiloh, Ohio ... if you live in Ohio it is so worth the trip ... the price of their fabrics is out of this world! It is owned by an Amish family and her philosophy is to keep the prices down so people can afford to sew. I don't think I saw prices any higher than $6.79 a yard. We did find they had some inexpensive fabric mixed in with their Moda and other brands, so just something to watch for if you use only quilting fabric.

Here is some Fall fabric i purchased ... i plan on making a large pinwheel table topper or small pinwheel throw to go with my living room...

This is the Christmas fabric i bought to make a stocking table topper ... no, your eyes are going ... my picture is blurry ... sorry about that! Anyways ... i just love the snowmen! And...i'm going to put gold sashing between the blocks ... i've made 12 blocks already and when they are layed out, they just sorta run in to each other...also, i'm thinking of making a few stockings backwards and throwin those in ... what do you think??

Oh Yes ... Evening Mist ... i love this fabric because it is so soft ... not sure what I'm making with this but I came across more of the sage fabric so i purchased that to go with the fat quarter haystack i bought previously.

Other than that I bought about 7 or 8 yards of white on white and cream on cream for future projects ... i think i did pretty good and didn't go overboard on what I bought...I've decided that I need to stop making impulse purchases when it comes to fabric because most of the time i sit back and say ... why did i buy that?!?!?!

June Schnibble Done

Woo Hoo! My June Schnibble is done! I used the fabric scraps from my In The Pink II and made a larger table topper for m living room. I didn't trim the blocks as small as they were suppose to be because I didn't want to cut off all that fabric ... therefore, mine don't match up like the pattern shows, but i like the way they look anyways ... besides, it's going to be on an end table with pictures and remotes on top of it so i'm guessing no one will notice ... Two more schnibbles to do and then we are done! I think I'm ready for that because I haven't been making the quilts like I was before I started the Schnibble a Month so it will be nice to work on a quilt. I'm glad I did the schnibbles though because it really gave me a variety of table toppers for my house.

Hello! Well not so long ago my cousin and I took a day off work and went quilt shopping. We went to a store not far from her house...it is called Polka Dot Pincushion ... i didn't buy much at that shop, just a pattern, but they had the most adorable quilts on the walls and so much cute fabric ... take a look ...

This is the happy little camper Ryan that spent the day shopping with us ... This is the only purchase I made on day 1 ... I'm going to use my Christmas fabric with this and make them Christmas Presents ...

Alexander Rocks!

Let me just tell you a bit about my nephew Alexander or "AD" as he is called on his baseball team. On Alexander's first birthday he was playing T-Ball with my brother (now he'll be 13 in November) ... the boy eats, sleeps and breathes baseball! He truly loves the game and is an awesome athlete! Omar Vizquel is his idol and when Omar played for the Cleveland Indians he was #13 so you will pretty much always see that Alex has the #13 on his jerseys.

Alex plays Travel Baseball for the Dublin Green Sox and they are the State Champions. This weekend they won the USSSA 12uAAA State Championship and below is a picture of their trophy! Way to go Alex, we are so proud of you! (Alex is in the front row, 2nd from the left)

Hi Everyone! Can't believe tomorrow is Monday already! I wish the weeks flew as fast as the week-ends!

Not alot going on this week-end...did a bit of sewing ... my schnibble blocks are all finished and below is a picture of a few of them. I think I'm going to put some sashing between each block to make the schnibble a bit larger... Isn't this cute! My sister-in-law gave this to me. I think they use to hang their keys on it at the back door, but i'm going to paint it black and hang it in my living room so i can hang some schnibbles from it...i think that will be adorable ... thanks Bets :O)

So, i'm am definitely not a garage sale person ... however, my husband likes garage sales and flea markets...he's all about the challenge to find something at a good price...don't get me wrong, i love a good sale, but i'm not one that believes in "one man's junk is another man's treasure!" So last friday i stopped at a garage sale with hubby and on the wall in the garage they had this plate holder hanging that said $8 ... so i told dave i wanted it and he says ... "offer them $5" ... well i'm not one to bicker over a few bucks ... i just assume give them the $8 and be on my way, but since he was there i said ... will you take $5 for that plate holder and she says "SURE" ... so now i'm all happy because i'm going to paint this black also and hang it sideways in my hallway to hang some lap size quilts on ... but before that happens, the leaves on this thing are definitely going to be removed!

WOO HOO!!! last weekend i started a new quilt to go with the new furniture and it's finished...i can't wait to take it to the quilter's on Monday! I've had this fabric since Fall 2008 and just couldn't figure out what to make with it, but then I got new furniture and then I got Schnibbles Times Two and along came McGuffey :O)

I plan to start working on the Schnibble for June this weekend and may just have to make a table topper out of my scraps from McGuffey.

Hello! Well I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week-end! Mine was actually very enjoyable! I spent Saturday sewing...a new quilt to go with my new furniture...pictures to come later this week and then Sunday we rode the Harley's a good part of the day and got a bit more sun burnt than anticipated but it was so worth it! Monday it stormed most of the day so we rented a movie and relaxed!

My nephew Michael had some fun on Saturday jumping on a trampoline but ended up giving himself a sprained neck and bad head-ache so the poor guy ended up at the ER Saturday night and got to take this lovely neck brace home :O( They said he should be better in about a week. Hope your week is off to a great start!

Yippee...my May Schnibble is complete! I chose McGuffey and did it in scraps of Kansas Troubles. I love these fabrics and have recently purchased some new Kansas Troubles called Butterfly Garden...it is adorable...now just to find the time to make something!

End In Sight ... I'm A Winner ... Life is Good

There is an end in sight....sigh....The kitchen floor is done and the furniture returned to the kitchen from the living room...the carpet in the living room is ripped up...we are donating our couch to a local church so that is being done this evening and then we need to move the remaining living room furniture in to our kitchen because our carpet is being installed tomorrow morning at 9 am .... WOO HOO! I called on our furniture that was ordered and they are expecting it this week, so maybe, just maybe i'll get lucky and the furniture can be delivered later this week and our house will be back to normal ... well as normal as it gets around here! I am so excited and so ready to have things in their place! Take a look at the picture below ... you can see where my poor sewing machine sat for 2 weeks :O(

So while my kitchen table was in my living room, i spent a few evenings cutting out fabric for my May Schnibble. This weekend I put all the blocks together and sewed them in rows. Below is a picture of the blocks just layed out on the floor. This is McGuffey and I did it in scraps from Kansas Troubles.

OH OH! And i was a winner in last months schnibble drawing...i won a $25 gift certificate to Quilters Paradise. I just called them this morning and ordered the Schnibbles Times Two book...I can't wait to get it because I'm thinking of making McGuffey in a large quilt for our living room to go with the new furniture. I have a bunch of fabric from In The Pink II and think the pinks and browns would be perfect!

HELLO! Gosh, it feels like forever since i've posted and even longer since i've been able to actually spend any time sewing! I've been keeping up with my pinwheel quilt-along which has been rather easy because it's only one block a week...i've been skipping a week and doing 2 at once...but i'm loving how it is turning out...only one more block to go and that should be posted on Twiddletails either tonight or tomorrow....i can't wait!

I've been using Butterfly Garden by Kansas Troubles ... I absolutely LOVE Kansas Troubles!!! I have more Butterfly Garden for another quilt i'm going to make, but who knows when that will happen as my house is still in shambles and i don't see any end in sight! Below is a picture of my Pinwheel quilt and you can see the new kitchen floor in the background...it sorta blends with the quilt, but that's ok...i love them both anyways. Hope everyone is have a wonderful Spring...take care!

Bloggy Break

Holy Cow! It has been a short while since i posted, but i have been very busy and not a fun busy until now. I decided I wanted to paint our living room and we have a popcorn ceiling...so one evening hubby went to work and i trimmed out the ceiling excited to get it painted the next evening ... WRONG ... the popcorn on the part i painted fell ... so the next evening i spent 5 hours scrapping the popcorn ceiling to get it flat ... trimmed it out again ... WRONG ... the part i trimmed became all crackly ... so hubby spent that day spraying the ceiling down with water and getting all the popcorn remnants cleaned off and then put a coat Kilz on it and a coat of paint and it looks WONDERFUL! Let me just say who ever invented the spray popcorn ceilings .... what the hell were you thinking?!?

Once the ceiling was finished we put 2 coats of paint on the walls and they look so fresh! This whole fiasco started on Monday and it was Sunday morning when I finally put my living room back together...it drove me NUTS with things such a mess for nearly a week! There was a path to the kitchen sink and a path to the refrigerator which meant no cooking for me:O)

So last night we went and ordered our FlexSteel furniture and stopped by the carpet store and brought home some samples ... I'm so excited to get it done and get life back to normal!!!

Hubby works tonight so i'm planning on doing some sewing ... i really miss it! I finished my schnibble a few weeks ago and haven't touched anything since, so tonight I'm planning on working on my Pinwheel Party quilt along that Twiddletails is having.

Hello Everyone! There is just a whole bunch of nothin goin on over here!

Here is my April Schnibble, Tagalong, and it's ok. I don't even remember what charm packs I did it in and it's just too busy for me...so i think i'll quilt it and put it on an end table since it will be covered with pictures and candles and hopefully that will take away from how busy it is.

I'm hoping to start painting our living room next week so part of this weekend will be spent packing up stuff and moving some of the furniture out...i'm so ready to get the painting and carpeting over so the furniture can be ordered!

No Sewing Happenin

Hello There! It was a BEAUTIFUL day here in my part of Ohio...68 degrees and sunny...the windows were opened and it was great to have the breeze coming thru the house!

Well there isn't much sewing happening in my house. I have Spring Fever and am in a cleaning mood! Tonight i attacked my kitchen...windows washed, curtains washed, ironed and hung back up, floor swept and mopped, cupboards wiped down and all the clutter put away or in the trash and dishes done...it looks great!

Tomorrow night it will be the living room and bathroom! Then possibly a trip to Lowe's for some paint ... hopefully it will be busy in our house over the next month or so with cleaning, painting and carpeting, so probably not a whole lot of sewing.

I plan to keep up with my Schnibbles so i'll have that to post and I'll be sure to check blogs in the evenings.

Hubby's birthday is Monday ... he'll be 48 ... not too far from 50...and he has next week off so it will be nice to have more time together!

Hi There!

Here are my first 4 blocks of the Pinwheel Party quilt along. It took me a while to figure out what fabrics I was going to use, but yesterday at the quilt store i saw the new Kansas Troubles line of Butterfly Garden and decided that is what I was going to use. I had 3 1/2 yards of the gold background fabric that I bought a few years ago to use as a backing but didn't like how it looked with that quilt, so i put it in the trunk for a rainy day ... today it is raining and i'm using the gold background fabric. Of course i had to purchase some the Butterfly Garden fabric, but that's ok, cuz i love it!

And for those asking, below is the picture of the quilt i did with the Cotton Blossom Jelly Roll. If you look at the right side of the picture, the rows are at an angle and I would have had to cut too much off to make it square, so that is why i was frustrated and tore it apart. This is the fabric in my previous post that I used for my March Schnibble pattern called RoundAbout.

I can't believe tomorrow is Monday already, and since today is only 1/2 over, i'm going to relax on the couch and watch some movies since the Nascar Race is rain delayed.

March Schnibble and Completions ... Woo Hoo

Happy Saturday! Well my plan was to do the border on my March Schnibble last night but that didn't happen ... it happened today instead ... but nonetheless, it is done! I used a jellyroll to do this schnibble rather than charm packs. I had made a quilt out of this fabric a while back, hated how it looked, tore it all apart and put the scraps away...then when this pattern came along i came across the scraps in my tub and used them up. I made it two rows wider and two rows longer just to use it all up and i'm glad i did and i'm glad it's done!!!! Tonight when Dave left for work i got the binding put on another quilt that came back from the quilters this week and today i ran to the quilt store in Bluffton to purchase some fabric to do the Pinwheel Party quilt. I had 3 1/2 yards of fabric i bought a few years ago and decided then i didn't like it, but i think it will make good background fabric with what i bought today...so, i'm off to get the fabric cut so tomorrow i can get the first 4 blocks done since the 5th block comes out Monday.

Well hello everyone! I think i've been in my own world for the last few weeks. I've been working on my schnibble for the month ... pics to post this weekend ... working on a few other quilts and call me crazy, but i just joined the Pinwheel Party over at Twiddletails. Not sure what i'm doing my pinwheels in yet ... they're on week 4 and i just decided today to do it with all scraps, so hopefully i'll get the first 4 done this weekend. Here's a picture of what it will look like...I'm not a black person, but i think the colors really pop using black and the fabrics i have are bright! Today i picked up a quilt from the quilters so i'll get the binding on that this weekend, plan to finish my schnibble friday night and do the pinwheels on Sunday. I made the March Schnibble bigger than the pattern calls just to get rid of this fabric line i have. I did it in Cotton Blossom.

Since I don't have alot to blog about, here is a picture of a cute sign...i took this picture down in Florida at Ponce Inlet when dave and I took the harley's down there over Christmas a few years back...

Too Busy? Will It Look OK? What Do You Think???

i LOVE this fabric...i got it free when i purchased fabric for my nephew's quilts last year...the quilt store was giving you a "store credit" when you spent so much ... so this is what i received with my credit.

I've been trying to figure out what to make with it and i've always wanted to make a log cabin quilt ... so, my cousin suggested i make one using this...blue on one side, the whites on the other and i'm thinking of a pale yellow for my center square.

Here's where you come in ... what do you think? Will it look ok? Is the fabric too busy? Is it too much blue? Will a pale yellow center look right?

Good Morning! I haven't done much sewing this week, but accomplished some last weekend, but am not yet able to show you any pictures ... it's a secret.

February Schnibble

Happy Saturday everyone! So, this has been my life the past few weeks ... eat, sleep, work 12 hour days, nap on couch in the evenings, go to bed ... get up and do it again the next day. That will be my life for hopefully just 1 more week, then it will be back to sewing in the evenings!

But last night I worked on my schnibble and this morning i was up at 6:30 and putting the borders on my schnibble at 7. I love this schnibble, it went together so fast! Here's a picture of how mine turned out...

I realized the other day that I haven't made a full-size quilt since we started these "schnibbles a month" back in September...but today i am going to start on a quilt. I was all about just doing one quilt at a time and not having a bunch of WIPs, but no more! I have two quilts cut out and ready to start sewing and this afternoon i'm going to get started.

OH! and Monday the next Schnibble will be announced! Gosh, do you ever feel like you don't have time for a real job so you can spend your days sewing (and i mean before retirement)? I wonder if my husband would go for that? UH ... i don't think so :O)

A Whole Bunch of Nothin

WOW! It's been a crazy-busy month and I'm not sure I've done much of anything! But...here are some pictures of a few things i purchased while shopping this month and the very little sewing I've done!

This is 12 fat quarters of Evening Mist by Moda. It is so pretty and i just love the soft green in it! Loved the stocking stitcheries too! And I thought i might do the pattern on the left with my In The Pink II fabric ... one of these days! Here is my Schnibble for the month. Just started working on it the other night and i have gone nowhere fast! Hubby works this weekend so i hope to get it finished!

A Few New Schnibbles ...

Yesterday i got a few new Schnibbles patterns and 2 charm packs of Garden Party in the mail. I love the colors of Garden Party, but not sure I want to use them for my February Schnibble...my cousin suggested using black and white fabrics for the bowties and calling it 'A Black Tie Affair' which i think would be pretty too, just nothing to go with it in my house. I'll be quilt shopping hopefully this weekend, so maybe something will come to me. And i got this ... i love this pattern! I was reading it and Miss Rosie gives you fabric requirements to make it much larger than a schnibble, so i am going to make one that is 49" square. I've been wanting to make a red, white and blue quilt for some time now, so this is it!!!

It's still pretty cold here in Ohio, but the snow has let up. Yesterday we received 11" and another 2" this morning. It's sure pretty and it could snow like this all the time for me, but I don't think my husband would be too fun to live with if that was the case :O)

Pretty Snow

This ... is what it looked like in Findlay, Ohio this morning ...

We're suppose to get snow all day tomorrow (Tuesday) and in to Wednesday and they are calling for 12+ inches ... i can't wait, i hope we get it all and then some!!

Tonight ... hubby's working and i'm going to clean like a mad-woman so tomorrow night i can sew, sew, sew while i watch it snow, snow, snow!

Matthew ... Bad Day

Last Wednesday wasn't a good day for Matthew. I don't quite understand what he was doing, something about jumping on something then hanging from something then he either let go or slipped and landed on the ground, thus fracturing his elbow .... OUCH!

He was at the ER until about 1 am Thursday morning then to the orthopedic surgeon's on Friday for another x-ray and then on to get a CT scan because they didn't like how the fracture looked. I think it was near his growth plate so they wanted a better look at it so he goes back Monday for the CT results...so here's a picture of matthew with his cast ... he's rooting for the COLTS in the Super Bowl ... GO PEYTON!!!

So let's just hope that everything comes back OK on his scan and his elbow heals just fine! He's all about sports, so it will definitely be a long 6 weeks in this cast.

Snowy Saturday

It's a Happy Snowy Saturday in Ohio!!! We didn't get a whole lot of snow in my area, just about 4 inches, but the blowing was terrible! Lots of big drifts and a great day to stay inside, bake some cookies and take a nap! Here's a picture of my car snowed in with the drifts...only about 4 inches of snow, but the 40 mph of winds was the kicker...

Well, I haven't done any sewing this week so i thought i would show you some of my recent purchases...I think the Sent With Love line is so girly and cute ... i'm going to make the Schnibbles called NASH with it...Check out Kim's finished Valentine's Nash...

and the Moda line called LOVE U ... it is so sweet! i have no idea what i'm doing with it, but i just fell in love with the snails so i bought a few charm packs and a yard of fabric for a border ... i'm sure i'll find a cute Schnibbles to make for some little girl...

1 Million Pillowcase Challenge

Well this weekend i finished my pillowcases for the 1 million pillowcase challenge. i made one dozen pillowcases, 4 of each pictured. I'm going to donate my pillowcases to Red Rooster Quilts in Dublin, Ohio. OH! and have you checked out Moda Bake Shop lately? There is an adorable new pattern posted today called Vintage Inspired Bear Paw Quilt that I'm going to do in my muted florals (pictured below). I've had these fabrics for over a year and they're drivin me nuts so i think they would be very pretty in that pattern with an ivory background.

I also did some quilting on my red white and blue table topper and hope to finish that this week. i'm not diggin the red thread, so i may have to purchase something that goes a little better with the fabric.

New Cookbook ... YUM!!

I can't believe it's been over a week since i blogged! Holy Toledo!

I've been too busy EATING to have time to sew :O) Last Saturday I bought Ree Drummond's book and it is FABULOUS! I think there is two or three receipes in the book I would probably never make, but everything else looks so yummy and the things i've tried are great!!! If you like cooking from scratch and all the fattening things in life ... then this is the book for you!

I've promised my husband i'll only make one of her items a week from now on, but oh how i could make something different every night!

This weekend hubby works so there will be plenty of time to sew. Last weekend i started working on pillow cases for the 1 million pillow case challenge and i made 5 and now i have another 8 cut out so i hope to finish those this weekend, get my red, white and blue table cloth quilted and bound and then maybe get my last shopping bag put together so that i have 2 to take to the store instead of just one. It's going to be bitter cold here, highs in the single digits, so a great weekend to stay in, sew and cook!

Pinwheel Prairie Point Pillow

Pinwheel Prairie Point Pillow ... say that fast 3 times! WHEW!

So tonight i made a little pillow to go with my quilt and it is very cute! I just wish I had made it bigger...but after i finished the pillow i decided ... hmmm ... i have enough fabrics to make a table topper ... so i think i'll be making a table topper to go with the quilt and pillow! Now i just can't wait to get my quilt quilted :O) Here's a picture of the pillow on the pieced top and it sorta gets lost with the top, but i'm thinking after it's quilted the pillow should stand out just fine.

For as long as I second-guessed this purchase, i'm sure loving the fabric now. Strange how that works!

Well, it's a bit chilly in Northwest Ohio, but that's about it...no snow, no rain, just overcast blah days ...

So last night i decided i wanted to go thru some fabric and find something fun to make. Well, do ya ever walk in to a quilt store and immediately fall in love with fabric so you buy it ... then the next day you think ... why did i buy that fabric?!? Well I did that about 1 1/2 years ago and have been pondering what to make ... so last night i pulled it out and tonight i made this ...

The colors seem very dull and boring in this picture, but they are very pretty in person. The pattern is from Jodi's Moda Bake Shop tutorial ... it's suppose to have prairie points between the white border and the outer border, but since i used a floral border, the prairie points got lost ... so i think i'm going to make a matching pillow and use the prairie points for the edge of that.

Well, it's a bit late and it's been a long day, so have a great Thursday :o)
